Octopussy and the Living Daylights
London: Jonathan Cape, 1966.
Uncorrected proof of the final James Bond book. 95 pp. Bound in publisher's charteuse wraps. Near Fine with light wear and soiling, bump to lower corner, and pencil notations to list of author's books facing title page. Contents lightly toned. In a Very Good+ unclipped dust jacket, unevenly trimmed at top and bottom to fit book, with light wear and toning. Gilbert A14a.
Two James Bond stories, published two years after the author's death. The proofs were issued in a run of 350 copies. The proof jacket, featuring artwork by Richard Chopping, was 4mm taller than that for the published hardcover edition and would have overhung the book; a previous owner has rather roughly cut it down to size. Nonetheless, an attractive copy of Bond's last book appearance.
Price: $1,800
