First edition thus. xxvii, [1], 476, [1] pp., illustrated with line drawings by Hugh Thomson. Bound in publisher's dark green cloth with ornate gilt peacock stamping, all edges gilt, dark green coated endpapers. Very Good with lean and light toning to spine, fraying at head and tail, and light wear and soiling to cloth. Hinges cracked, adhesive residue to endsheet corners and offsetting to adjacent pages, overopened throughout. Very little foxing, far less than is common for this edition. A nice copy of the famous "peacock edition" of one of the greatest romances in English literature. Item #140949241
