Photographer Chargesheimer (AKA Karl Heinz Hargesheimer) shows everyday Germans trying to return to normalcy amidst the lingering wreckage and despair of the last war. With an essay by Nobel Prize-winning author Heinrich Boll, perhaps the best-known chronicler of this period in Germany.
