A wonderful collection of photographs from the movement's heyday, signed by someone who was there. David Hilliard was the Chief of Staff of the Black Panther Party and was intimately involved in its activities, including the 1968 ambush of Oakland police officers in which Bobby Hutton was killed. In 1993 he formed the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation with Newton's widow Fredrika Newton, who appears in these pages along with numerous other BPP luminaries.
