Faint offsetting to lower gutter of first few pages, likely from printer's glue. In a Near Fine unclipped dust jacket with light toning, rubbing, and edgewear and 1-1/2 inch tear to rear spine fold. Manuscript letter from the purchaser to August Derleth laid in; Derleth's typewritten response and signature on verso.
A very nice copy of this cornerstone of horror, in the beautiful Virgil Finlay illustrated dust jacket, scarce in this condition. The first book to be published by the legendary Arkham House, printed in a run of just 1,268 copies. Joshi I-A-15.
