Cosmic Entity, Man and Life: "Seek with Faith and Ye Shall Find!"
Glen Ridge, NJ: Self Published, 1923.
A manuscript of outsider meditations on science, religion, and metaphysics in the forms of poetry, prose, mathematical equations, and illustrations. [i], 36 pp. 37 sheets written recto only in cursive script with several sketched illustrations. Loosely bound with cord through two Clarke & Baker Co. file covers. Near Fine with light wear to covers, occasional smudges and glue stains throughout. Outsider writing by an author known only as "C.R. -D" about whom we could find absolutely no information. Despite the miniature handwriting (densely underlined by the author-- often every single word, often multiple times), feverish tone, and typically offbeat subject matter that spans the gamut of human knowledge (typical for a lot of what would be called New Age material), the author displays wit and humor. It's actually not too bad of a read. Here is a sample of a short poem: He goes on to define each of the words in the poem at length, followed by a number of equations (judging the coherence of which is beyond this cataloguer's pay grade), and then becomes a retelling of the Book of Genesis. The back cover has a quote from Goethe, "Al That Is Sensible Has Once Been Thought Before, One Must Only Try To Think It Once Again." An excellent example of apparently-unpublished American outsider, possibly automatic, writing, from the early 20th century. Very unique.Cosmic Entity:
