Alfred North Whitehead was an English mathematician and philosopher who collaborated with Bertrand Russell on the groundbreaking Principia Mathematica. Whitehead set out to demonstrate the interdependence of science and culture in a course of eight lectures he delivered in Boston in 1925, and they were collected in Science and the Modern World, published that same year.
