Original silver gelatin photograph of H. P. Lovecraft, signed by him in the bottom margin. 4.5 x 2.75". Near Fine, slightly faded (or rather slightly under-developed), light surface wear; old glue stains and development code stamped at the verso. Provenance: The Gerry De La Ree collection, accompanied by an envelope with "signed picture of HPL" and De La Ree's New Jersey typed on recto; additional typed address on verso. De La Ree (1924-1993) was a small press science fiction publisher. A rare signed photograph of the massively influential horror and weird fiction writer, H. P. Lovecraft. The image is attributed to horror writer Wilfred Blanch Talman, Kalem club member and friend of Lovecraft. The two collaborated on the short story Two Black Bottles published in Weird Tales in 1927. This was part of a series of photographs of Lovecraft and horror fantasy writer Frank Belknap Long taken on July 11, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY.
