Bound in green crushed morocco by Riviere & Son, spine heavily tooled in gilt and with five raised bands, all edges gilt. xlviii, [1], 10-368 pp. Near Fine with slight sunning to head of front board, modern bookplate on front pastedown, contents lightly tanned and spotted. Sympathetic restoration to foot of frontis and head of title page. Burns' influential collection of poetry, with "skinking" on p. 263 - the earlier state, which was replaced by "stinking" as the result of a mid-printing rushed resetting of type to expand the print run.
