First edition, signed limited issue. Number 283 of a limited 300 copies signed on a tipped-in leaf by Seamus Heaney; with a facsimile frontispiece of the opening page of the Nowell Codex manuscript. Bound in publisher's cream paper-covered boards over red cloth spine lettered in gilt and blocked in black; housed in publisher's stiff green card slipcase with upper and lower edges in red cloth. Contents faintly musty, else Fine in a Very Good+ slipcase with light soiling and barcode sticker at rear board, spine title and upper board title labels were added later by a previous owner. Heaney's translation of the famous Old English epic poem that won the 1999 Whitbread Book of the Year Award. Item #140947198
