Warren was an early exponent of Owenism, a polymath, founder of a "Time Store" in Cincinnati, Ohio in which labor hours were exchanged for goods and services, and a co-creater of two mutualist anarchist colonies: Utopia, Ohio and one on Long Island called Modern Times.
