"Honeysuckle" design, printed by the Chiswick Press on large Whatman paper created especially for this work. [viii], 424 pp. Very Good with rubbing to cloth, head and tail cloth worn away with plain cloth mends. Many pages unopened. Provenance: bookplate of John Charrington, The Grange, Shenley. Charrington was an important collector of private press books and prints; he was honorary Keeper of Prints at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge.

A visionary realization of all the book arts (writing included), this fantasy romance was one of the inspirations for Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. A truly beautiful book. Item #140946723
