Blazing Guns on the Chisholm Trail
New York: Random House, 1948.
First edition, first printing. [viii], 216 pp. Bound in publisher's gray cloth with black lettering. Near Fine with tiny stain to front board, contents bright and clean, in a Near Fine dust jacket, worn at spine ends, unclipped ($2.50). Rare, especially with such a lovely unsophisticated dust jacket. An attractive copy of the Western novel that inspired Red River, the classic 1948 Howard Hawks film starring John Wayne. The author was a prolific screenwriter, contributing to the film based on this book. The perennially popular Borden Chase cocktail is named after him.
