Babbling April

Oxford, UK: Basil Blackwell, 1925.

First edition, scarce advance review copy with publisher's slip laid in. [viii], 32pp. Bound in publisher's gray boards lettered in blue. Near Fine, former owner's bookplate on paste down, small tape stains to rear endpapers, in a Very Good dust jacket, toned with age, spine darkened, archival mending tissue on verso mending split between spine and rear panels. Housed in a custom folding chemise with green leather, gilt-lettered title labels.

The acclaimed British author's scarce first book, never reprinted. One of only 12 review copies printed preceding an edition of around 300. A collection of verse (Greene's only published poetry work) published when he was only 21 and dedicated to his parents. Later in life he grew to detest the book and vowed to destroy any copy he came across. Item #140945924
