Dazzling sample album of decorated aluminum foil from Germany in 1941

Singen, Germany: Aluminum-Walzwerke Singen, 1941.

An oblong album of beautiful metallic decorated aluminum foil samples created by the German company Aluminum-Walzwerke Singen in 1941. These eye-catching, fragile samples were marketed for candy, butter, and tobacco packaging. During WWII the company became a part of the German war effort and, it was later revealed, used Russian slave labor in their factories, but the company eventually became part of the Canadian Alcan aluminum company and still exists to this day as Amcor Flexibles.

Very Good with creasing and light rubbing, which is to be expected. Date stamp of 4 Feb 1941 on front wrap. A macabre and yet dazzling artifact of German industrial/consumer life during WWII. Item #140945434

Price: $800.00
