In A Buried Past: An Annotated Bibliography of the Japanese American Research Project Collection Yuji Ichioka writes of this work, "An autobiographical account of the wartime internment experience by an Issei who was first interned [as an "enemy alien"] at Fort Missoula, Montana and then Amache, Colorado." Saski's narrative is accompanied by black and white photos of many others he met during this period, as well as cartoons of camp life. He had immigrated from Japan in 1905, pursuing a side career as a poet and journalist writing in Japanese about life in America. An early account of life in America's WWII concentration camps.
