First edition of the author's first book, which was privately printed by his father while Merrill was a sixteen year old student at Lawrenceville Academy in Princeton. Bound in original red cloth-backed gray boards with titles stamped in gilt on the upper board. Very Good with toning, soiling, stain to rear cover and rubbing to edges. Pages toned and lightly thumbed, marginal tear to page 7. Merrill would go on to win the 1977 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. Item #140941172
