London: The Macmillan Company, 1914.
First edition, British issue. Signed by Algernon Blackwood on the front free endpaper in colored pencil "S.A.B. from A." It appears that the final initial, "B," of his name may have been erased; an impression of a penciled date of 1914 below that is visible (especially from the verso), amidst some also now-erased bookseller notations, as is a faint impression of a period after the final initial. The inscribee may have been the author's brother, Stevenson. [viii], 368, [7, ads] pp. Green pebbled cloth lettered in gilt. Very Good+ with light crease to spine, edges a bit dust-soiled, hint of wave to textblock. A collection of stories, almost all novella-length, been hailed by H.P. Lovecraft and S.T. Joshi as an important work of weird fantasy. Item #140940922
