Rare first British edition of Beecher's book, following the American edition; no copies located in a recent OCLC search. First thus of Ballou's book. Very Good+ with rubbed corners, a few small scratches to spine, former owner's bookplate on paste down, slight wave to pages.

Two works on spiritualism by American ministers. Charles Beecher was the brother of Harriet Beecher Stow, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, and like her, an abolitionist. Adin Ballou was a philosophical radical who wrote extensively on spiritualism. Item #140940712
