1933.

Precht, Fred A. (1863-1942). Portrait of Daniel De Leon. Oil on canvas measuring roughly 23" x 19" in simple, vintage wooden frame; signed "Precht 1933" at the top right corner, with the logo for the Socialist Labor party painted in the top left corner. Noted on the back side of the canvas "Daniel De Leon in 1907 at Antwerp on the Road to Stuttgart Congress." De Leon was a founding member of the Industrial Workers of the World (I.W.W.) and a leading figure in the Socialist Labor Party of America from 1890 up until his death in 1914. A similar painting by Fred A. Precht of De Leon was used as a frontispiece of the Socialist Labor Party Golden Jubilee published in 1940. Presents wonderfully, with two small holes having been repaired by a master restorer and visible only from the reverse. Item #140938708
