Tropic of Cancer
Paris: The Obelisk Press, 1934.
First edition, first printing of the author's first published book. An association copy, signed by Henry Miller one month after publication, inscribed "To Norman Douglas from a faithful admirer of his works / Henry V. Miller 10/3/34 / 18 Villa Seurat (XIV) Paris." Bound in contemporary or near-contemporary patterned stamped paper-covered boards with gilt stamped leather title label to spine, housed in red custom chemise slipcase. Front wrap with crab image bound in at front, text block slightly trimmed, and Douglas' ownership stamp to front paste down. Toning to spine and hairline cracks to outer joints.
