The Entity Process; The Accumulation of a Physical Property as a Function of Mortality and Magnitude of Rank
Hicksville, NY: Exposition Press, 1977.
First edition, first printing. xi, 103pp. Bound in publisher's gilt-stamped brown cloth. Laid in is a TLS on the publisher's letterhead, asking for any constructive criticism, as the author was hoping to produce a second, more scholarly edition. Near Fine with tarnishing to gilt, light bumping to head of front board, some foxing to text edges. In a Near Fine unclipped, lightly worn and rubbed dust jacket. An utterly perplexing, thoroughly befuddling, fascinating self-published philosophical treatise on "the nature of Mathematical Anthropology." To this layman cataloguer it appears to be solid gobbledygook-- a collection of data and formulas about everything from molecular weights to the orbits of planets, peppered with surreal cartoons purporting to illustrate something or other that would be perfectly at home in a Church of the Subgenius, Szukalski, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming book-- but perhaps I merely lack the intelligence and education to pick up what the author was putting down. No real information on him was available on the internet. As far as "kook" books go, this would be the creme de la creme, as it has a richness of imagination, rigorousness, and complexity seldom found in the genre. As weird as weird gets.
