A beautiful copy of the classic coming-of-age story about a teenage girl whose family lives in genteel poverty in a decaying castle. Dodie Smith was an established playwright in England, but this novel was written and published in the United States after Smith and her husband relocated in 1940. A reviewer called it "as light, as fresh, as irresistible as the blue ribbon winner at a county fair cake exhibit."
