Signed by Witold Gombrowicz on front free endpaper, inscribed to the former owner and dated in the year of publication. 272 pp. Bound in publisher's blue cloth with front stamped in blind, spine lettered in silver. Near Fine with a little soiling to cloth, in an About Very Good dust jacket with sunning to spine, some inexpert color touch-ups to head, tape on verso. The cult novel, first published in Poland in 1937 with a cover designed by Bruno Schulz. Deemed scandalous and subversive by Nazis and the Polish Communist regime in turn, the novel (as well as all of Gombrowicz’s other works) was officially banned in Poland for decades. Very rare signed.
