The first issue is unexpurgated and contains the passage about Siegfried Sassoon's mother receiving messages from his brother who had been killed in the war on lines 11-19 on p. 290, and "the most terrible of his [Sassoon's] war poem's on pp 341-343. Bound in publisher's original salmon cloth with spine lettered in gilt. Near Fine with light softening to spine ends, foxing to textblock edge. In a Near Fine dust jacket with toning, light edge wear, light soiling and several small areas of biopredation. Signed copies of the first issue are very scarce. Item #140945000
