The author is reputedly a geologist who presents "scientific data proving that so-called UFOs are fireballs of overheated gases created as a byproduct of volcanic eruptions." But this is not merely a standard work of debunkery. UFOs aren't manned by extraterrestrials, Bach maintains, but are semiconscious geothermal entities (he calls them "gorgons") tracing their appearances throughout famous volcanic eruptions and abnormal weather events in human history. A conclusion that veers away from UFOs into all-caps fiscal arguments for the creation of an "INDEPENDENT TAXPAYERS' BANK" makes this book's place in the UFO or Occult section, not the Science section, doubly certain.
