A novel of the romance between and Englishman and a dark-skinned daughter of an Indian rajah. Durant was born in Barbados to parents of African descent, and emigrated to the United States where he was a reverend in Harlem. The first half of this book was co-authored by Durant's lifelong friend Cuthbert M. Roach. A very uncommon novel by a Harlem reverend published during the Harlem Renaissance. Item #140943082
