Approximately 70 biographical sketches of African-American leaders and prominent figures around the South with many photos: their portraits (group and solo) and some exterior and interior shots of their homes. The author, Green Polonius Hamilton, was a prominent African-American educator at the only public high school for African Americans in Memphis, Tennessee: Kortrecht High School. He wrote one other book, The Bright Side of Memphis. Three Memphis public schools would be named after him. Rare.
