An important association copy, signed and inscribed by the artist. First edition, first printing. Limited issue; copy 92 of 100 numbered copies, with an original drawing by Miguel Covarrubias. Beneath the drawing Covarrubias has warmly inscribed, "To Frank Crowninshield to whom this book owes so much, Love, Miguel Covarrubias May 9, 1928". Crowninshield was best known for developing and editing Vanity Fair for 21 years, shaping it into a preeminent literary journal, at which Covarrubias would become one of the magazine's premier caricaturists. These two, Crowninshield and Covarrubias, as much as any, created the style of the 1920's in America.
