First edition of what is apparently the third cookbook written by an African-American woman, after rarities by Malinda Russell (1866) and Abby Fisher (1881), and published just eight years after Rufus Estes' Good Things to Eat. An eclectic mix of 700 recipes, with some Southern.

112, [7, ads] pp. Bound in original cloth, patterned endpapers. Good. Staining and mottling to cloth, lifting to cloth from rear board and some instances of dampstaining to pages including the preliminary matter.
