First edition, advance issue, text in French. Signed and inscribed by Pierre Boulle on the half-title page. Bound in publisher's original wrappers printed in black and green; advance priority with first issue wrappers, with the rear cover blank except for "S.P" (service press) printed on the bottom right corner, and again in a perforated stamp to the left; the first wrappered trade edition had ads on the rear cover and later issue review copies have perforated "S.P" over the price. Near Fine with toning to spine and edges, faint pink stain to bottom textblock edge near spine not intruding into margins. A stunning copy of the original French language first edition in the advance issue; copies signed by the author are scarce. Item #140941255
