Paris: Printed for the Author, and Sold by Edward W. Titus, 1928.
First edition, copy number 397 of 1050 copies, privately printed for the author. Signed by Djuna Barns in pencil on the first blank page and inscribed to a former owner. Good, with light soiling and light shelf wear to wraps, slight wear at spine ends, a small nick to the bottom of the front free end page and a few bits of foxing throughout. Splits to spine and later glue repairs. Soiling to wraps and toning throughout. Barnes' novel based on a Parisian lesbian social circle centering around Natalie Clifford Barney's salon--and debatably either a loving satire or a bitter attack on such. Written in archaic Rabelaisian style, illustrated by the author with styled Elizabethan woodcuts. Item #140940593
