Rajneeshpuram, OR: [Unknown], 1984.
24 pp. Stapled wraps. Very Good+ with rusted staples, faint diagonal crease and slight soiling to front wrap. A program for the third annual festival at the Oregon religious community Rajneeshpuram, with seven days of workshops and activities listed, photos, and lots of ads for a number of Rajneesh-related and general Pacific Northwestern businesses. These ads are some of the most interesting material of the booklet, for companies such as Zorba the Buddha: Rajneesh Restaurant and Nightclub, Forward Gear of Portland, offering "High Energy clothes in great colors," and J & S Explosives & Supply Co. of St. Helens, Oregon, which writes, "Best wishes for a Booming Festival." Tensions between the community and the state government were at an all-time high in 1984. An uncommon piece of ephemera from the short-lived community profiled in the 2017 Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country and its milieu. Ma Anand Sheela, who is a such memorable figure in that film, appears in a single-page introduction with a photo. Item #140940066
