First edition in first issue jacket with no reviews and blank verso. [iv], 265 pp. Two-toned cloth stamped in gilt. Very Good+ with rubbed gilt, small stain to back board, bookplate on paste down, pages toned with age. In a Very Good+ unclipped dust jacket with a slightly sunned spine panel, small tear near head, some light wear to edges, small faint dampstain to verso at foot. The author's only book, anti-war novel later finding fame with director Stanley Kubrick's film adaption, which was written by pulp legend Jim Thompson, forgotten great Calder Willingham, and the director himself (although who wrote what and how-much is still disputed to this day).
