1986-1990. 42 Volumes. Series I-VII. First edition. The first forty-two volumes published by Hanuman Books. All are first editions, except for volumes 14 and 21, which are second impressions. Volume 26 is signed by the author (1969 by Eileen Myles.) Bound in publisher's wraps with dust jackets, ranging from Very Good to Near Fine. Hanuman Books was founded by American art critic Raymond Foye and Italian painter Francesco Clemente, and the name and format was influenced by prayer books collected on a 1985 trip to India. Published out of the Chelsea Hotel in New York City, this series features some of the biggest names in avant-garde culture of the day, including figures from the beat poetry world, gay and transgender culture, Warhol's Factory, music, film and art.
