Rubbing to board edges, previous owner bookplates to front paste downs, names to title page of Volume I. A treatise written in response to Thomas Malthus' works on population, primarily An Essay on the Principle of Population. Written during a time when population growth was viewed with fear in England, analogous to terrorism in modern times.
