London: J. Shiells & Co., 1895.

First complete, uncensored edition. [x], 266 pp. with tissue-guarded photogravures by R. Easton Stuart. Green cloth with dark green stamping and gilt lettering on spine, gilt topstain. Very Good+ with darkened spine, a little fraying along spine, former owner's bookplate on paste down, a bit of foxing to prelims. A very nice copy.

First published anonymously in 1824 to little notice, Scottish writer James Hogg's unusual novel Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner (as it is generally known) achieved wide recognition only with this unexpurgated edition. Item #140937731

Price: $1,400.00
